Massage for Clients with Cancer
Our Massage for Clients with Cancer course is approved by the Standards Authority for Touch in Cancer Care , the leading body for work in this area.
This course is for therapists who already hold a Level 3 or equivalent massage qualification. In it we look at how to treat a client who has, or has a history of, cancer. Historically this was a client group who were excluded from massage and there was a lot of fear and misinformation from both clients and practitioners. This course looks in significant details at how clients with, or with a history of, cancer can safely be treated. We look into details of understanding what cancer is, how it develops and spreads. We examine the different types of treatments and how each will impact your treatment as a massage therapist. The first part of the course is a detailed video course, the video course is also delivered by Maureen, in this we look at a fair bit of technical information but in an accessible format and with notes that you can refer back to at any time. You must complete the video training and submit your evidence (online certificate) for this prior to starting part two of the training. The training fee includes ongoing access to your video course so you can keep going back to this if you wish.

The second part of the course is a hands-on in-person training day, run by our senior teacher Maureen Abson, where we look specifically at safety in treatments and at practical skills, you should expect a mixture of discussion and hands on work on this day.

This program costs £375pp, we don't advertise set days but will run a course for a minimum of 2 people in Maureen's clinic in West Lancashire. We have a maximum of 4 students for this training to allow plenty of time to ask individual questions. This fee includes your training registration fee with SATCC the video course. Alternatively if you can bring together a group of up to 4 practitioners Maureen can come to you for a set £1,100 plus travel at the standard 45p per mile. This can be more cost effective and allow for a shorter down time for your clinic or spa if you have a number of practitioners. You do not have to be a spa to do this, groups of practitioners can come together to organise training, you provide the venue and we will come to you.
